Anxiety is one of the most common mental health challenges, affecting people across all age groups and backgrounds. While it’s a natural response to stress, clinical anxiety goes beyond occasional worry, it can feel constant, overwhelming, and hard to control. Symptoms may include excessive fear, racing thoughts, irritability, restlessness, sleep disturbances, physical tension, and avoidance of everyday situations. Some individuals experience specific types such as social anxiety, panic disorder, or generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), each with its own unique challenges. Left untreated, anxiety can disrupt relationships, school or work performance, and overall quality of life, but effective, compassionate support is available.
Therapists at Westside Behavioral Care use a range of evidence-based approaches to help manage and reduce anxiety. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one of the most widely recommended treatments, focusing on identifying and reshaping thought patterns that fuel anxiety. Other common methods include mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), exposure therapy for phobias or social anxiety, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and relaxation or grounding techniques. Some providers may also incorporate journaling, psychoeducation, or guided breathing exercises into sessions. If you’re beginning therapy for anxiety, you might ask about CBT, mindfulness tools, or exposure strategies, your therapist can help tailor the approach to your goals, symptoms, and comfort level.
Appointments are available both in person across the Greater Denver Area and through secure online therapy anywhere in Colorado. All therapists are in-network with Kaiser Permanente, and many also accept other major insurance plans.
