Details about Adolescent and Teen

Adolescence is a time of intense growth, both emotionally and physically, and it can come with unique challenges. Teens often face pressures related to school, social dynamics, identity development, and family changes, all while navigating big emotions and rapid brain development. Anxiety, depression, irritability, academic struggles, and difficulties with friendships or self-esteem are common during this phase. Some teens may withdraw or act out, while others may struggle silently. Whether it’s managing peer pressure, coping with trauma, or adjusting to life transitions, therapy can provide critical support during this transformative time.

Therapists at Westside Behavioral Care are trained to work specifically with teenagers using evidence-based approaches that foster trust, safety, and emotional growth. Depending on the individual teen’s needs, sessions may incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), or family-based interventions. Therapists may also use creative techniques like art or play therapy to help teens express themselves in ways that feel natural and safe. Therapy offers a space for teens to be heard without judgment, learn coping tools, and strengthen emotional regulation. New clients may want to ask about the therapist’s experience with adolescents and their preferred therapeutic style.

We offer both in-person appointments across the Greater Denver Area and secure online therapy options for teens located anywhere in Colorado. Many teens and their families appreciate the flexibility of virtual sessions, especially during busy school years. All Westside providers are in-network with Kaiser Permanente, and many also accept a range of other major insurance plans. Getting support for your teen is just a phone call or click away, and we’re here to help every step of the way.

Working with Young Adults

Emerging adulthood brings new freedoms and new stressors. Between college, career choices, evolving friendships, financial independence, and navigating personal identity, this stage can feel both exciting and overwhelming. Many young adults face challenges with anxiety, depression, life direction, relationship struggles, or lingering effects of childhood trauma. Others are simply seeking personal growth and emotional clarity as they begin defining who they are and what they want for their future.

At Westside Behavioral Care, our therapists tailor sessions to meet the evolving needs of young adults in this unique life phase. Therapy might focus on emotional regulation, coping with uncertainty, building self-esteem, or managing stress from school or work. We use a range of proven approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), trauma-informed methods, and mindfulness-based interventions. The therapeutic relationship emphasizes respect, collaboration, and creating a space where clients can openly explore thoughts and emotions without fear of judgment.

Young adults can access therapy through Westside either in person throughout the Greater Denver Area or through secure online sessions from anywhere in Colorado. Our therapists are in-network with Kaiser Permanente, and many are also contracted with other major insurance providers. Whether you’re starting college, entering the workforce, or working through personal transitions, our team is here to support your emotional well-being and long-term growth.
