Carrie came to Colorado from Iowa many years ago, fell in love with the mountains and never left. This is also how she found her place in psychiatry. She became a nurse over 15 years ago, started her career in the psychiatric field and never left. She grew a great respect for the patients she worked with and understood how significantly mental health can impact one’s life. Her history includes working as nurse in acute psychiatry for over 15 years. She then moved on to become a Nurse practitioner starting in Community Mental Health working with substance use and dual diagnosis. She believes in a compassionate and holistic view of mental health. She feels that every person deserves to feel good and participate in life to their best capabilities and understands that relationships and learning about each person takes time. She utilizes evidence-based modalities to care for each patient with person specific treatments. Her specialties include psychiatric care across the lifespan.
When not working, she spends time up in the mountains where she lives, traveling, and spending time with her family and dogs.

They play a key role in developing individualized treatment plans that may include medication, psychotherapy, or both. Common conditions treated include:
Commonly Treated Mental Health Disorders:
Medication management is a mental health service that ensures patients receive the safest, most effective use of psychiatric medications as part of their overall treatment plan. It involves ongoing evaluation, adjustment, and monitoring of medications by a licensed prescriber—such as a psychiatrist (MD), psychiatric nurse practitioner (PMHNP), or physician assistant (PA).
Key Steps of Medication Management:
Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is an FDA-approved, noninvasive treatment for individuals struggling with treatment-resistant depression. This therapy uses targeted magnetic pulses to stimulate underactive areas of the brain associated with mood regulation—particularly in patients who have not responded to antidepressant medications or traditional talk therapy.

SPRAVATO® (esketamine) is an FDA-approved nasal spray medication specifically developed for adults with treatment-resistant depression (TRD). Unlike traditional oral antidepressants, SPRAVATO® works on the glutamate system in the brain, offering a rapid-acting solution for patients who haven’t found relief from standard medications alone.
