Stephanie Berliant - LCSW
Attention is one of the most powerful gifts we can give. This philosophy drives my practice. I strive to listen well, to understand you, to find the good that has been ignored or buried, and to name themes and beliefs that keep you stuck.
I enjoy working with adults who are mired by anxiety, panic, depression, disordered eating, relationship difficulties, compulsions, addictions, or who are having difficulty adjusting to life circumstances.
In therapy, you and I will have authentic conversations where we’ll examine key stories of your life and identify areas where you feel stuck. From there, we’ll use tools that target the behaviors and feelings you’d like to change. Therapy will look slightly different for everyone depending on your goals, but we may look at how your thoughts are impacting your behaviors and feelings and use strategies for change. We may also begin to cultivate strengths like self-compassion and acceptance, or we may incorporate relaxation and deep breathing strategies. We may also use homework outside of sessions to help you progress quicker.
I am highly relational, meaning therapy with me feels like talking to an interested and compassionate friend. I am a graduate of the University of Michigan’s masters of social work and bachelors of psychology program and have been practicing social work for 6 years.
