Rhiana helps clients achieve work/life balance, improve self-esteem, and recover from life disruptions.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, I have decided to make my practice permanently virtual. I have found that this accomplishes my top priority as a private practice therapist: to increase access to mental health care.
My master’s degree in international disaster psychology trained me in helping people from all walks of life. I am a trauma therapist by trade, but have also found a liking to helping people achieve work/life balance, improve self-esteem, and recover from life disruptions (i.e. breakups, loss of employment, loss of a loved one). I use a combination of CBT & psychodynamic intervention with clients. During the first four sessions, I help clients identify coping skills they can use to cope with the day to day stressors before diving into discussing trauma. I believe this helps clients develop the tools they need to process trauma in a safe way to prevent being triggered during daily life.
Over the past few years, I have worked as an integrated health provider to learn about health from a global perspective. I help clients identify any potential physical health problems that could be impacting their mental health, as well as managing mental health following chronic medical diagnoses.
I strongly encourage clients to do consultations with multiple therapists before settling down with one. Research has shown that regardless of the type of intervention your therapist does, the relationship you have with them is the most important variable to your healing.
Lastly, I do standalone diagnostic evaluations for emotional support animal letters. I have seen clients drastically benefit from the presence of their pets (especially while at work) and support my clients in having this therapeutic support with them.
